Gig Harbor 2024

1. Students should make sure they are entered correctly in tabroom.com ASAP. (Gig harbor information can be found at https://www.tabroom.com/index/tourn/index.mhtml?tourn_id=32829)

2. Please make sure you have your permission slip turned in before we leave.

3. We will leave at 11am on Friday from the MVHS gym/admin building area.   

4. Because it's tradition, we will be s

topping at the Marysville McDonalds. (If you have the app, you get free fries on Fridays.)

5. Each van may determine if they want to do this.... but it is a Krispy Kreme tournament!  That means if the kids show Krispy Kreme their grades on Skyward, they get free donuts!

5. We will check in at the hotel before the tournament.  You may change into your debate clothes at the hotel if you like.

7.  We have 3 rounds of debate on Friday.  

8.  For Friday dinner, we will stop on the way to the hotel at fast food places (last year it was Panda Express.) Each van may choose where to go with their driver.   We will send kids back to hotel as soon as folks get done.  I will be the last to leave.

9. For Saturday lunch, we will order Costco pizza as a team.

10.  For Saturday dinner, we will probably do Dicks drive in this weekend.  Gig Harbor often runs very late so stopping at Denny's is probably not best this week.  Debaters, I know you love your Denny's-- thank you for understanding!

11. Breakfast will be at hotel in the morning.

12. Gig Harbor will have a concession stand with snacks-- but I highly advise bringing stuff with you!  Additionally, Carrie (Aubrey's mom) is sending a bunch of snacks for the team table-- thank you!

12.  Parents, please plan on picking up your student at the high school.  I will have students call you when we pass Stanwood.

13.  Things to pack:  debate clothes, pajamas, snacks, computer and chargers, papier to flow, all debate materials, comfy shoes, maybe a blanket (cafeterias get cold!), homework for between rounds

14.  Big debaters-- I will need all of your help this weekend helping or debabies get to rounds and survive.  Please be prepared to be the excellent mentors I know you to be!

15. Debabies, you got this!   If it's your first tourney, your goal-- "You are allowed to cry-- just love enough that you want to come back!"  If it's your second tournament, your goal-- "Fake it til you Make it."
